How’s Your Glow?

Hello, My name is Danielle Peterson.I am a wife, a mother, a friend, a sister, a daughter, a crafter, a painter, and a baker. But most of all I am a follower of Christ!

It wasn’t until recently that I realized how important it was to exfoliate your skin.  As you can probably imagine before using an exfoliant my skin was dull and dry. Then one fateful day I tried my hand at making a batch of my own sugar scrub.  After using said scrub I realized how dingy my skin had been!  REVELATION! I NEED TO EXFOLIATE!

Coming to this somewhat silly revelation led me to another conclusion; GOD WANTS TO EXFOLIATE OUR MINDS TOO!  He wants us to continually refresh the way we think with his word and his voice. But much like my skin, our mind and our attitude suffers when we do not seek God’s refining power.  We need it every day! If left to our own thoughts and devices, after time, our way of thinking starts to shift from the will of God to things of this world.  We lose focus on what is truly important and we lose our “glow”.  A glow that is more beautiful than healthy skin, because it’s a glow that only comes from a heart on fire for God.

I encourage you today as you read this (and hopefully try out the recipe below) that you consider asking how long it’s been since God has exfoliated your mind?  Was it today, a week ago, a year ago?  Don’t let another minute pass by where you are not seeking his refinement!  I pray that God reveals himself to you in a new and real way!

Romans 12:2 “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind.”

Now for the recipe! You can use this fun and easy scrub for your entire body! You can even finish the jar off with a bow and give it as a gift!

Lemon olive oil Sugar Scrub:

  • 2 cups Granulated Sugar (white)
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • the juice from one lemon
  • 1 jar with a lid (I used an old pepperoncini jar)

Step 1. Gather your ingredients and tools.

Step 2. Thoroughly combine the oil and sugar. It will almost have a fluffy texture, once it’s completely mixed.
Step 3. Add the lemon and mix thoroughly.
Step 4. Scoop into the jar.
Voila! Beautiful skin in a jar!
I hope you’re inspired by this little how to! Leave a comment to let us know how your scrub came out!

Hi Karen, I’m so glad you like it! It is ok for all skin types. I also started using it as a face scrub and it works wonderfully on my face too!
